At UmmahLit, we strive to shape young minds into valuable global contributors by offering holistic education through an Islamic perspective. With Islam being the third largest religion in the U.S. and a growing Muslim population facing challenges like discrimination and underemployment, our mission is more critical than ever.
As founders—three Black sisters, children of immigrants, and visibly Muslim because of our hijabs—we are deeply connected to the issues of navigating multiple identities in a diverse society. We understand the importance of supporting youth as they balance their faith with modern challenges, helping them grow into confident, productive individuals.
UmmahLit provides high-quality educational materials covering Islamic knowledge, literacy, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Our resources include books, e-books, worksheets, videos, interactive games, science experiments, and engineering challenges. We use diverse learning methods to cater to different styles, featuring diverse characters and engaging storylines to enhance reading and comprehension. Our STEM activities spark interest and build skills essential for future studies and careers.
Our content not only develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also focuses on ethical and moral growth, instilling confidence, empathy, and leadership in youth. We are dedicated to offering well-rounded education that aligns with community values and supports children’s success.
Looking ahead, we aim to expand our impact by expanding our partnerships with schools and masjids, and hope to see our products as staples in Muslim homes. We also intend to open our own facility to further support our children’s academic and spiritual development, bi’ithnillah.
