At UmmahLit, we promote faith in our every day routines, language, and character. By anchoring Islamic values, we aim to nurture our little learners' natural love of Allah.
Meet Amina, Tawfeeq, Raheema and Nasir! Our characters represent the diversity of the ummah, helping children feel a sense of belongingness.
UmmahLit was co-founded by three sisters—Awa, Fatima, and Aicha—to promote literacy through stories and activities that are fun, engaging, and relatable for Muslim children. We invite parents and teachers to use our website as a resource for fun and educational content.

What advice would you give to parents or educators?
The advice I would give parents is to remain very involved in the education of your child. Don't just leave it to schools, TV, or society at large to be your child's only source of knowledge and information. You have to be your child's first and main teacher, even if it requires you to be on a learning journey as well.
How do you believe your company is making a difference in the community?
I believe that we need more positive representation for our youth. As Muslim we have an abundance of knowledge, history and culture that our kids can learn from. Our belief system is our strength so it’s vital that we have educational services that promote our values and inspire our children to achieve their potential.
What personal experiences have shaped your approach to education?
The biggest influence that has shaped my approach to education, is working closely with children and seeing firsthand that everyone learns differently. There's no uniform method to teaching or learning, and part of the beauty is exploring different avenues to best reach the youth.
