Monthly Challenge

What is the Community Reading Challenge, and who can participate?

The Community Reading Challenge is a free and fun initiative designed to inspire families with children (from infants to 5th grade) to develop a love for reading. Families engage in age-appropriate monthly challenges, encouraging lifelong literacy habits. We call it a “community” challenge because it brings families together to share their progress, learn together, and foster a collective passion for literacy.

Do we have to sign up to participate in the challenge?

Signing up is not required, participants are welcome to join the challenge at any time. If you do sign up, you will receive email updates whenever a new challenge is posted. Signing up also helps us know how many participants we have and what age levels are participating.

Are there rewards or recognition for participating?

Yes! Share your progress by emailing updates to salaam@ummahlit.com or posting in the WhatsApp group. Families can earn stickers, certificates, and small prizes for completing challenges. Also, participants may be featured on our website and social media. The goal is to make reading exciting and rewarding for everyone.

Are there ways to connect with other families or participate in events?

Absolutely! Join our WhatsApp group and social media pages to share your progress and feel the sense of community. We also host occasional in-person and Zoom events where families can meet, learn, share stories, and celebrate reading achievements.

What if we don’t complete a challenge?

No problem! Complete as many challenges as you can; the goal is to encourage consistent reading habits.

Who do I contact for help or to suggest ideas?

You can contact us anytime by emailing salaam@ummahlit.com. We also welcome book or activity suggestions to enhance the challenge for families.
